Özkent Akbilek Secondary School is located in Ankara, Turkey. It has 44 teachers / management staff, as well as 780 students. It was opened in 1998 as primary and secondary schools together and in 2012 they were separated as primary and secondary schools. It got the name of Özkent akbilek Secondary School. It has a class for the students with disabilities. We have always participated in some nationwide projects for them and we are still working on one, too. Also, national science projects have always been very important for us. We have joined many competitions in fields such as basketball, badminton, art, etc, We also organize an English Games festival each year in May, in which each student tries to play some games and enjoy English at the same time. We believe that academic success does not come just through formal lessons; there should be something to support the lessons such as the social activities. We always try to improve our skills as teachers. We have taken courses together (all teachers) such as smart board use, safety of school, social activities, teaching critical thinking, 21st century skills. We have the needed technical means such as smartboards, internet connection and some other equipment. This year we are also working on Flipped classroom. We have taken a course on it.

We have also had some other projects for refugee students coming from Syria because we have 16 students of Syrian origin.  We focus on multicultural classes to integrate these students, in addition to focusing on our history related activities and projects.

Each memorable day is celebrated or commemorated at school to raise awareness about our own history and, in this way, help students to be able to have a global perspective of the world.

Our teachers would like to develop as many projects as possible. We will be happy to actively participate in this project as well.
